RIP Uncle Jack

I guess not all days can be filled with fun beach runs. Today, my "Uncle Jack" passed away at 14 years old. I feel lucky I got to visit him in Port Townsend, WA only a few days before he passed away - and I'm also glad I made sure to give him lots of kisses when I saw him.

Uncle Jack was a great friend and a constant and loyal companion to Lane and Jan.

More importantly, Jack taught me how to be spoiled the right way. He always ate my food when he came over, but would only eat his food when Lane mixed in some real people food. I got that down now - him and her are almost fully trained! Kibble without treats - I don't think so!!!

No dog was ever more tolerant of my signature dog greeting. For some reason other dogs aren't into constant licking from me, but Jack never complained once!

I even stole his bed from him once. Well - to be fair - he stole my bed first and, given that he was 2-3 times my size, I figured it was only fair if I stole his right back! I'm not sure why he looks so content on a bed that was a few sizes too small for him, but I know I liked his!!

In honor of my best buddy, my first ever 4 paw award goes to Uncle Jack. Thank you for the beach walks, teaching me how to be a true food connoisseur, and for being the only dog who willingly accepted my greetings.

So long, Uncle Jack! You will be missed.
